This page is in response to the many e-mails I
receive from engineers and scientists interested in
becoming a patent agent.
A registered patent agent represents an applicant
for a patent before the US Patent and Trademark
Office. A patent agent may write and file patent
applications. A patent agent may also respond to
communications from the US Patent and
Trademark Office. The responses to the
communications (e.g., Office Actions) may include
arguing with the patent examiner about the whether
or not subject matter in a patent application is
patentable.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any
further questions about what patent agents do.
